BREAK IT DOWN:
TASK #1:
Use Keynote on your iPad to create a presentation for your Business Plan. You should dedicate a couple slides for each of the 3 steps outlined below. You will be using this Keynote to present to possible investors. Make it powerful, informative, and convincing!
Step #1: The Business Concept
Explain why your lemonade is better than the competition's. What makes yours special and/or better than the competitors’ lemonade?
Research your competition. What are they selling? What are the prices? How are they attracting customers? Where are they located?
Step #2: The Marketing Plan ~What is the name of your business? Come up with a catchy slogan.
~Use blank paper to draw sketches of your logo until you come up with the final one for your business.
~ Who are your customers? How old are they? Where do they live? What do they like/dislike? Describe your target customer audience with as much detail as possible.
~Where is your business located? Where will you set up? Is it a permanent or moving location? What is the surrounding area like? Who populates the area? What is the traffic flow like? Explain why this is a good spot for business.
Step #3: The Financial Report
Determine your startup costs. Startup costs refer to the amount of money you spend in order to launch your business.
NOTE: You should search websites like Sam's Clubs or Walmart to figure out how much your items cost (exclude sales tax or shipping costs) -- you are not guessing at prices!
COST PER UNIT:
Now figure out your cost per unit. This is the equation:
**** Cost per unit = Total startup costs / # of products that can be made to sell
PRICE PER UNIT:
Now determine how much you want to charge your customers for each cup of lemonade.
Keep in mind: You want your price per unit to be greater than your cost per unit (this is how you make a profit).
Also, how does your pricing compare to your competitors' pricing?
PROFIT:
You determine profit by completing this equation:
****PRICE PER UNIT - COST PER UNIT = PROFIT!
TASK #2:
Create flyers for your business. Using Microsoft Word, design a flyer that you want to post all over town to advertise your business and bring in customers.
TASK #3:
~Practice using Excel like a business person. Go to the "Lemonade Stand Sales and Expenses Random Number Generator" (the link can be found on the Resources page). Use those fictional numbers to input into the data into the Budget Spreadsheet Excel document (attached to this page) to determine weekly profit.
~Feel free to try out different sets of numbers. When you come up with data you like (and it seems realistic), print a copy of the Excel spreadsheet and turn it in to Miss Brennan, circling the final Weekly Profit.
~BONUS: Can you figure out the formulas that are used in Excel to generate the Weekly Profit? Play around with the numbers. If you know the formula, write it on the back of your printed Excel spreadsheet for extra credit.

Step #3: The Financial Report
Determine your startup costs. Startup costs refer to the amount of money you spend in order to launch your business.
- What materials do you need to actually make the lemonade? How much do you need? How much do all of your materials cost?
- What do you need for your actual lemonade stand (table, chairs, pitchers, serving spoons, etc.)?
NOTE: You should search websites like Sam's Clubs or Walmart to figure out how much your items cost (exclude sales tax or shipping costs) -- you are not guessing at prices!
